"Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm. " -Abraham Lincoln
So in all my excitement about Maeve's crawling, I haven't yet told you about her other new trick: standing. In fact, standing is really more like her new pastime; she would rather pull herself up and stand than crawl any day.

She has trouble following our sixteenth president's advice, however. Maeve doesn't pay much attention to the location of her feet at all, sometimes trying to pull herself up on an object that's at arm's length from her, so that her bottom ends up higher than her head, or tries to stand with her feet so far apart that she tilts over like a novice surfer.
So another Momma job of mine is to move her feet closer together, or closer to whatever she's pulling herself up on. Since it's also my job to catch her, I avert falls any way I can. Seems silly, but without those feet squarely under her, she falls over and over again. Just like anyone else, I suppose.
Steady as she goes |
Oh my goodness, I can't get over how much she progresses from day to day! She's going to be running around before you know it. :)
