History

“History will be kind to me for I intend to write it” -Winston Churchill

Now that Maeve is nearly one, my pre-mom life is fading into ancient history.  Here are a few things I just barely remember:
  • Spontaneous dates
  • Sick days
  • Unquestioned uninterrupted sleep
  • Staying up past 10 for fun
  • Sleeping in past 7
  • Loud music in the car
  • Going to the bathroom by myself
  • Doing laundry once a week - or once every two weeks!
  • Quick errands
  • Leaving glasses on low shelves, half-full

  • Wishing I could be a mommy
  • Hoping I could get pregnant
  • Worrying they wouldn't find a heartbeat at my appointment
  • Not knowing whether we were having a girl or a boy
  • Keeping her name a secret
  • Worrying that I would never adjust to life with a baby
As all these things disappear into my past, I wave a fond farewell to some, and a goodbye, good riddance to others.  My life now, despite the lack of loud music, spontaneous dates, and sleeping in, is so rich, crazy, and sweet, that I wouldn't ever in a million years trade it for my life a few years ago.

I'm pretty sure Mom remembers when these guys roamed the earth...
