Some days you just can't win.
Maeve had her one year physical yesterday, and all the news was good; she's in the 88th percentile for weight and 99.5% for height. Developmentally, she's right on schedule, and has a few more words than the doc expected. And like any good toddler, she did not enjoy herself at the doctor's office.
Getting Maeve to hold still is like asking her to recite the alphabet. What's the point? She doesn't know how. Therefore she had to be pinned down for eye, ear, and lung exams, not to mention the dreaded shots, and this caused her abject terror and misery from the second we walked into the office.
After the first round of having her ears looked at and having a stethoscope on her back, she started wailing when the nurse walked back into the room and didn't even touch her. It continued through our meeting with her doctor, during the feared shots, and kept up until we left the doctor's office completely, whereupon she immediately conked out.
I am still tired from yesterday. My daughter is many things, but still and patient are not on her repertoire.

I'm quite a bit older than Maeve, but I still want to freak out every time I have to go to the doctor. Maybe she's right and we're all under-reacting.
