Limp Noodle

"A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor's book."  ~Irish Proverb

I am so grateful for seven blissful hours of sleep, and even more grateful for Maeve's thirteen hours.  She needed that sleep so she can get back to being my rambunctious baby girl.
It wasn't so dispiriting when she got sick as a little baby, because it was just more crying, less sleep, more general unhappiness in the house.  But now Maeve becomes pathetic, clingy, sad, and loses her get up and go.  And that girl is all get up and go.

She spent yesterday sitting on her bean bag chair or on my lap, watching tv.  A few times she got up to try and play, but would lose her coordination, trip over something, and come wailing back to my lap.  I think I only read her two or three books yesterday, which is a very odd sensation.  Not reading to Maeve is like suddenly losing a limb, you just don't know what to do without it.

Oh, and so that no one is worried, it turns out that Maeve just has a virus, nothing spectacular or frightening, and she's of course working on molars at the same time, so she was just fighting off a fever and huge mouth pain at the same time, the poor darling.  But time, sleep, and cuddles will soon have her back on her feet.

The cherub is still sleeping, though I have checked on her and given her some fluids.  I hope today to see the sparkle back in her smile, the neverending source of energy back in her little Maeve-motor, and to read lots and lots of books.

  1. Thirteen hours of sleep should definitely help in getting her back to her old self! Hope she's feeling better today!
