Hiding Girl

"Follow your inner moonlight; don't hide the madness. " -Allen Ginsberg

Hiding is a funny game for most babies from a very young age.  Peekaboo is a classic, often hilarious game for infants, and is developmentally important, too.  Maeve was a big fan ever since about a year ago.

Now Maeve has a game where she stands behind me with her hands on my back, and waits till I say, "Where's Maeve?"  I look all around, carefully avoiding looking at her, and then she runs around my right side and falls into my lap giggling.  It's a slightly more advanced Peekaboo, but it's definitely the same concept.

Maeve also likes us to notice when she is hiding, or trying to blend in with her surroundings.  I occasionally miss it when she runs off to her room and closes the door - it just gets quiet and it takes me a second to figure out why.  Then my spidey sense goes off and I dash to her room to make sure she's not scaling the furniture, but she's usually waiting right behind the door with a silly grin.

But I will always find her, even if I have to follow the trail of cookie crumbs and destruction.

  1. Hide and seek is a big-time favorite in our house, too! Nothing's better than hearing those excited shrieks of laughter when you finally "find" the little rascals! :D
