Perfect Park

"All I need to make a comedy is a park, a policeman and a pretty girl. " -Charlie Chaplin

Maeve and I found an absolutely wonderful park yesterday, thanks to another mom I met at our park across the street.  She said this park was great for toddlers, and boy was she right!  Nothing to fall off of, lots of faux rocks and logs to climb on with no sharp edges or splinters, wood ships everywhere, threes, a lake, and Maeve's personal favorite, geese.
"Hot Hot" she said, which is her best version of Honk Honk
As she was frolicking about this wonderful new park, I was daydreaming about what the perfect park would be.  I was imagining a park with a big shade canopy (or lots of well-placed trees); no cigarette butts mingled with the wood chips; slides that were always cool to the touch and were treated with Rain-X so the water slid right off; water fountains to play in; lots of benches for parents; no trash, used lollipops or condoms, beer cans or candy wrappers; in short, nothing I'd have to rush and grab out of Maeve's hand, safety galore, and lots of nature.

I think Maeve's perfect playground would have lots of interesting things on the ground, and lots of corners to hide in and look at the treasures uninterrupted.  A cookie dispenser, lots of slides, but no baby swings because she doesn't like those.  A lot of slow, tethered geese that she could chase in a circle, and a constant parade of dogs, kitties, ducks, other babies, crows, horses, and dinosaurs.  Definitely one of those bouncy bridges and lots and lots of stairs.  But she is blissfully happy at any park, and I don't think she ever wishes for something more.

Well, maybe the perfect park doesn't exist, but I love the one we found yesterday.  We are definitely going back tomorrow with Daddy!
