First Haircut

"Why don't you get a haircut? You look like a chrysanthemum. " -P. G. Wodehouse

For about six months now, my little angel has been rocking the baby mullet.  I used to think it was adorable (since it's my job to think Maeve is adorable) but I had gotten over it since then.  I decided to wait until my mom got into town so she could help me with that first haircut.  Moms understand these things.

Earlier in the day, the day of the big haircut, I was getting a little weepy.  We were about to cut off the hair she was born with, that precious peachfuzz I used to nuzzle when she was asleep on my chest.  Ack!  How could I cut it off?  It would be an admittance that Maeve is not a baby anymore!  I almost backed out of the procedure, but decided to stick to my guns.  The mullet had to go.

I have no pictures of the event because we were quick, like lightening.  I held Maeve on my lap and let her pull kleenexes out of a box, while my mom swooped in with the scissors.  There were no tears (not even from Momma) and it was all over in a flash.  So I will show you the before and after photos, that you may observe the exit of the baby mullet, and the entrance of the Toddler Bob.

  1. Thank you, thank you for cutting the baby mullet. All of my girls in my class have baby mullets almost, I can't stand it. So they all get ponytails put in everyday, they are so long in the back I can do full ponies back there...sheesh.

  2. Cute! I dread haircuts with my kiddos. My daughter is great, boy not so much. It killed me last falls when my daughter decided on her own to cut 9 inches of curly blond off. Harder for me than her.
