Constant Narration

"Silence and solitude are more distracting to me than chatter and commotion. " -Marilu Henner

We are approaching an age with Maeve that seems to be accompanied by near-constant narration.  I think nearly half of my replies to her consist of "That's right, honey ..." followed by an assertion of whatever she's just pointed out to me.  It sounds like this:

"Moon. Stars. Sky. Sun. Sky. Up."
"Yup, honey, we're watching a show about the sky, you're right!"
"Noodle. Sky, Kite." - (big grin)
"Oh, yes, Mr. Noodle is really silly, flying his kite!"

...and on and on, for most of the day, except when she's sleeping.  Especially when she feels like an expert on the subject at hand, such as babies, the sky, food, farm animals, bugs, or the letters of the alphabet.

I am grateful for the linguistic leap, but beginning to be overwhelmed by the sheer volume of conversation, and I know this is only the first foray into what is going to become a world of constant chatter.  It's a good thing I'm a pretty big talker, too, I'm sure I can keep up!
I'm sure she was telling me something important...
