And I'm not the only one: Maeve's grandparents got her a totally awesome splash table of which she has been taking full advantage. My aunt had a few toys in storage that she gave me for Maeve to play with, but the best one by far is the Fisher Price castle.
Maybe you are familiar with it, it looks like this:
There is a dragon and a knight, a Robin Hood and a royal family, and of course, a dog. Maeve loves everything about this castle, but her absolute favorite, no buts about it, is the trap door in the top of the turret that drops the figures down into the dungeon. She sends all those little fools to their doom, cowboy and guy-in-a-top-hat alike. It's awesome.
Today is our first day with just the two of us, as Daddy took last week off to help prep the house, but is now going back to work. We will both miss him immensely, but were so grateful for the time we had together, it was like a really hard-working Spring Break.
All that to say, I'm glad Maeve loves the castle so much, but I'm also relieved there are no trap doors in our floor.
Maybe you should get her a little black square of cloth she can put on her head as she is pronouncing the death sentence, as the judges used to do in English courts, when they had the death penalty!
ReplyDeleteI think they're headed more for life-in-dungeon sentences, but it's a thought, Dad!
