I was being Superhero Mom last night, rescuing stuffed animal Citizens from all sorts of danger, clad in a child-sized red cape and a Superman hat. Maeve was my helper, and we were rescuing a baby mammoth who needed to be sent back in time to rejoin his parents in the Ice Age. Maeve had the idea of putting him in her rocket, which was very sensible, as rockets are one of the few things that might work in time travel, since we don't have a TARDIS.
Then she started adding other stuffed animal friends into the rocket. A lot of them. In fact, nearly all her playroom stuffies ended up in there. I was trying to think of jobs for all of them but I was running out of ideas. Her laundry-basket-rocket was crewed like the Enterprise. Then she started sticking her big foam alphabet letters in there, and I gave up rationalizing. Now this was just everybody available wanting to get on board with the time travelling mammoth.
The bucket hat was part of her superhero costume- but check that rocket! She wasn't even done yet! |
