Laughter

“When the first baby laughed for the first time, the laugh broke into a thousand pieces and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies” - Peter Pan, J. M. Barrie

We had just finished our anniversary meal of $1/scoop sesame chicken, wherein the whole family, for the first time, sat at the table during dinner.   This was a major accomplishment, and I was feeling good.  DH had a beer and was chilling out, while I got down to my usual business of pumping breast milk.  Then, during our usual game of smoochy-toes, Maeve lets out this husky, low "huh huh huh" that sounded like Sylvester Stallone chuckling.  DH grabbed the video camera, and taped her as she did it again! Finally!

We'd been waiting weeks to hear our darling girl's laugh, and gosh, isn't it the most amazing thing to watch your baby do something for the first time?  Even though these are normal developmental steps, I just praise her all to pieces and spend days afterward telling her how proud I am of her.  Little Maeve laughs at last!
