Maeve had one success this week, and she has flaming enthusiasm and persistence for her other goal. She cut her third tooth yesterday, and I thought perhaps that bells from heaven would ring out her victory. She's still actively teething, so I'm guessing we're in for one more before this round is over, but I was so proud of her yesterday!
Her new goal is to stand on her own. She loves pulling herself up and stands practically all the time, and in the last few days, she started pulling herself up, steadying herself, letting go and hanging ten for a few seconds, then wipeout. Notice I said she has enthusiasm and persistence; horse sense doesn't enter the equation at any point.
Yesterday, though, she improved her stand time to more like five seconds. So I imagine it won't be too long till I have a standing up-type girl. And then all that enthusiasm and persistence will be applied to walking. Oh, how I dread and rejoice at the thought!

ReplyDeleteOh, I remember the mixed emotions - so happy for their accomplishment, but also knowing that walking presents a new phase and new challenges. Enjoy the moment!
