Trouble

"If you could kick the person in the pants responsible for most of your trouble, you wouldn't sit for a month. " -Theodore Roosevelt

Well, she's working pretty hard on crawling; hasn't quite gotten the hang of it yet, but is getting more mobile every day. Soon she'll be absolutely all over the place, and I'll have no one to blame but myself.

See, it was driving me crazy that she was waking up 5-7 times a night, up on her hands and knees, because her brain was trying to teach her how to crawl in her sleep.  So I thought I'd do it in the daytime, and maybe she'd sleep better.

Then, knowing her fondness for kleenex, a friend of mine told me to put a kleenex in front of her and see if she'd crawl to it.  She kind of army crawled her way over to it, and now she's getting better at that.  Now she gets herself stuck places and starts crying, or gets frustrated when something seems out of reach and she can't quite get her body going the right way.

How do babies have such a radar for dangerous, troublesome areas and items?  I'd say 3-4 times a day, Maeve gets herself over to the one patch of linoleum in the living room, bonks her head on it, and cries at me.  She wants to play with the venetian blinds, electrical cords, dust bunnies, and anything else that is either disgusting or dangerous that she can reach.

I don't know who to kick in the pants, as Teddy said, but it's probably me.

Stuck on the side table, aiming for the linoleum.  But she looks darn cute.
