Smooch

"A kiss makes the heart young again and wipes out the years."  ~Rupert Brooke

I love that she kisses me - I will let her do it every time, even though she consistently kisses me on the mouth - with her big, open lips - and I get baby drool in my mouth.  Because they are kisses.

I do not kiss my baby on the mouth, that's something I think is pretty gross.  I kiss her on the cheek, the neck, the top of the head.  Why she aims for my mouth, I don't know, although sometimes her kisses aim to get at whatever I'm eating.  But other times they're just for joy, for love, and hit me right in the kisser.

Of course, I don't open my mouth when I kiss Maeve, so I don't know how she got the idea that this is a kiss.  Maybe she pays more attention to my husband and I than I give her credit for.

But who can resist a baby kiss?  Not when it's your baby you can't.  So I pucker up tightly and hope to avoid the inevitable slime.  After all, a kiss is still a kiss.

A kiss?  Nope, that's a bite.

  1. I've got to admit--I am really looking forward to the kissing phase though I'm not so sure how Sandy will feel about it (I've already caught Sammy trying to lick her). ;)

  2. Hilarious! I don't know where the open-mouthed-kissing comes from either but they all do it!!
