Eleven

My big girl Maeve is eleven months old today - and due to teething, she might also be a little eleven o'clockish.  But I wanted to brag a little - unsurprisingly- about her.  Here are eleven words my Maeve understands:

1. Bottle - not only understands, but I think I heard her try to say bottle while I was making hers this morning.  Yay for word #4!

2. Cookie - a big word in Maeve's world - I think it's why she loves Cookie Monster.  Although by "cookie" she means either teething biscuit or animal cracker, not one of Mommy's homemade confections.  Too much dairy in those!

3. Blanket.  See yesterday's post.  She smiles when anyone says it, too.

4. Dolly - yup, she knows her dolly and will sometimes go fetch it, but at least point to it when you say dolly.

5. Duck - of course!  And we just got her a blow-up tub shaped like a duck, since she's been hating bathtime lately.  He quacks when you squeeze his beak; I have a feeling she's going to love him!

6. Book - I love that I can say, "Maeve do want a book?" and she'll go get one, bring it to me, and plop down in my lap.  It's delightful to say the least.

7. Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner/Snack - She knows all of these and will walk toward the table if I say any of the meals, and chase me around till I give her a snack, if I say snack.  We started spelling certain words around her, and snack is definitely one of them.

8. Puppy - her giant stuffed puppy, who is one of her best friends right now.  She even went and got him yesterday when I read about a dog saying "Woof" in a book.

9. No.  Okay, so maybe she doesn't exactly know what no means, but she knows she's going to be redirected or removed from an area, so saying no elicits instant crying and face crumple. 

10. Down - I assume she understands down because when I ask Do you want to get down? she wiggles until I put her down. 

11. Mama/Daddy - this is a given, but she can tell us apart.  When you say Bring this to Daddy she'll take off in search of the guy with the cool work badge, and if you ask her where's Mommy, she's on the lookout for the soft fluffy one.

Eleven months ago she was brand new, and now she understands so much! I love every day of our adventures together.
