I hear a lot of funny things from Maeve. Just since yesterday, she seems to be "talking" pretty much nonstop. I'm kind of at a loss as to what any of it means, but I have a few guesses.
I know her duck is "Da da da", I'm "Mamama" and Dad is "Da" or "Dada". She occasionally says something like "ba" for bottle/sippy cup, but the rest is all pretty hard to make out, no matter how insistent she is. She says something like "na-da" generally when she's unhappy or doesn't want something, and today I thought she said "da" for her dolly. I think a lot of words for her seem to boil down to "da" in some form. She also does a pretty fair imitation of her rubber ducky squeaking, which is hilarious - the video below doesn't do it justice!
Most of the time I just nod and agree, or repeat her noises back to her. This is a very fun step on the path to language, and I love hearing her very animated babbling - although she's no Steve Carell. She's just my goofy girl, and I'm hanging on her every... well, sort of word.
Hehe, I'm glad to see that Sammy isn't the only one out there with a fascination with Mt. Dew bottles! :D
ReplyDeleteL - yeah, she loves it, maybe that vibrant green color?
