Kiddo

"We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today."  ~Stacia Tauscher

We can't call her Baby Maeve anymore.

She runs, giggles, leans over to stick her head between her legs and watch the world go by upside down.  She communicates, she has conversations with herself, she can close a door and kick a ball.  She has moods, she has preferences, she has opinions.  She speaks 4 words and understands a hundred.  She does somersaults in her crib.  She is 32 inches tall and 55 miles per hour.

And I am distinctly a Momma of a toddler - I sing Sesame Street songs, I clap along to any rhythm, and almost everything I say between the hours of 6 and 6 is a question.  Do you want me to read you the book? Are you hungry? Are you all done? Do you want to go outside? Can you help Momma clean up? Do you know I love you very much?

Maeve will be one whole year old on Saturday, in just four days.  I have already said goodbye to my baby, and I am still learning to greet my toddler.  She is a kid now, a kid with a grin full of teeth and a head full of ideas.  I'm just trying to keep up.

Sorry it's blurry, but this is my best Upside-Down Maeve.

  1. I am so afraid of my baby's first birthday. It is a great milestone, but I so love her being a tiny baby, I get emotional everytime she learns something new.

I love the part where you said "I have already said goodbye to my baby, and I am still learning to greet my toddler" So nice.
