Maeve has ventured into the world of creation. At my insistence, she has tried out finger painting - a la Paint and Prozac - with a piece of paper inside a gallon-sized plastic bag and the paint squirted on the paper inside the bag, zipped closed. No muss, no fuss, nice painting. Also this keeps her from consuming her materials.
There are a lot of things Maeve has no words for, so who knows what her creations mean to her? My friend Becky and I found out a long time ago that finger painting can be great therapy for adults, and that one's paintings often end up looking like one's insides, whether that's what you're aiming for or not.
I love Maeve's art, it really does kind of move me. I understand why parents want to save their kid's art, even when it piles up in a corner in the garage to an unmanageable extent. I would build an addition onto a house to save these gems. For now, I'm going to scrapbook some of them, at least as long as I keep enjoying them.
So tell me, what do you see in Maeve's creations?
| I think this one is dinosaur-ish |
| And I see a unicorn here |
I actually bought a kids art portfolio on Amazon to keep Ben's art work...I just couldn't throw it away or risk it getting lost. I too think he's very proud of his work and I can't bear to get rid of any of it. :)
ReplyDeletebeautiful! i say dinosaur and airplane. it would be so interesting to know what maeve was thinking when she created these :)
ReplyDeleteI see a turtle in the first one!
ReplyDeleteOk, I'm totally insane, but I swear that last drawing is of a dinosaur holding an electric guitar.
ReplyDeleteL - like Denver, the Last Dinosaur? Did you ever see that cartoon?
ReplyDeleteI definitely see a dinosaur theme. Clearly she's going to be a palaeontologist.
