Seventeen Months

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... timey wimey... stuff." - The 10th Doctor, Doctor Who

My little gem is seventeen months old today, which puts her a mere month from being a year and a half old.  That is nearly impossible for my tiny mind to process.  A year ago, I dyed my hair red for the first time, and Maeve was just working on propping herself up while lying on the floor.  Two years ago, when someone asked me what I was going to be for Halloween, I said I was going to be a tired, pregnant lady in her jammies.  And I was.

I really think that having kids completely changes your perception of time.  It used to be that if I was busy enough, I had days at work that felt short, but the best, busiest day with Maeve never feels short.  Somehow, each hour stretches out longer and longer, but the days and weeks fly by like Air Force jets.  Maybe this is just what time feels like when you're happy, challenged, and constantly amazed.

Maeve, a year ago today.
