"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.
" -Oscar Wilde
I have already written about Maeve's current love affair with all things celestial. This weekend she seems to have escalated her obsession, partially due to a tip from a friend.
There is a beautiful video on Youtube by Super Simple Songs, a version of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star that has Maeve absolutely captivated. One of my playdate dad buddies recommended it to me last week, and we found it over the weekend. Not only does it have a star and the moon, but also an owl, so she spends the whole song saying "Whoo whoo... stawww...moo" over and over. It's truly heaven-sent, because it's very calming and sweet. I have no objection to letting her watch it over and over. I say that now... ask me in a week.
I am glad there are so many lovely things that make Maeve happy, because the charming Mr. Wilde was right as rain, sometimes life is a bit of a gutter. Between long days of teething, frustrated communication, World Federation Diaper Wrestling, and crabbiness on all sides, Maeve and I need the stars. I wish I had something that perked me up as simply and quickly as the Count and stars do for Maeve.
Although I do have Maeve herself. And that's pretty great.
I love getting to "see" Maeve explore this great world through your eyes. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it was a hit!
ReplyDeletebeen following your blog for a while and I love 'World Federation Diaper Wrestling' - My friend and I call it 'Nappy Wars' and man its TERRIBLE!!!
ReplyDeleteNo kidding! Maybe I'll have to do a post about WFDW. I just figured out a nearly foolproof move! Thanks for following :)
ReplyDeleteThat is one of my all-time favorite Wilde quotes (aside from having nothing to declare except for my genius, ha)...and so, so appropriate when it comes to raising toddlers. :D
