Toddler Organization

"Organize, agitate, educate, must be our war cry. " -Susan B. Anthony

The war cry in our house is Organize, Agitate, Organize, Repeat, with apologies to Susan B Anthony.  We have often attempted to tame the tide of Maeve's toys with various bins and baskets, but last night we got out the big guns, and got a bin organizer from Target.

Maeve was thrilled to meet this tidy, gorgeous organizer this morning, and promptly dismantled it with great focus and alacrity.  In her mind, toys belong on the floor.  For some reason, her necklaces, which I keep in a jewelry box without a lid, and her crayons, which I keep in a Hello Kitty tin lunchbox, particularly offend her when they are in their containers, and her first act upon waking and entering the living room is generally to dump them out and step on them, as if she were treading grapes.

Somehow toddlers have a way of thwarting the best-laid plans of their parents.  Some days it's really hard to tell yourself that the child is not purposefully trying to make you crazy or keep you from doing the things you need to do.  This blog, so far, has taken me about half an hour to write three measly paragraphs, in between book reading, pacifier finding, and administering much-needed popsicles to a teething, busy, silly beast.  But playing with Maeve and keeping her happy and busy is my job, not this blog, sending emails, or even keeping the house clean.  She wins every time.

This morning
