Eighteen Months

"The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. " -Abraham Lincoln

What might have escaped your notice, if you are not a parent, is that eighteen months is equal to a year and a half.  My tiny little baby Maeve that was only as long as my arm when she was born is going to be a year and a half old on Sunday.  Who needs drugs when you have a baby to blow your mind?

This time last year she was not even crawling.  Now she can tell me whether she wants milk or juice.  I just, you know, people tell you your perceptions of time change drastically when you have kids, but there's no way to understand that until you actually have the baby in your arms.  Time used to be a fairly straight line with a few bumps and skips when I didn't expect them.  Now it's like riding one ride after another at an amusement park, only I don't get to choose which ride.

I don't think I can properly articulate what this milestone means to me.  I am just in awe of my daughter and all she can do, show, understand, and frankly, climb.  I am speechless before the progress she has made in a year.

Not yet sitting up on her own - a year ago

Super Toddler!
