It's Fall!

"Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower. " -Albert Camus

I can't help it, I just love this time of year.  It's a glorious burst of change, it welcomes in the end of the cycle, like putting on your pajamas and brushing your teeth.  You know sleep is just around the bend, and it sounds so good.

Leaf!

And don't even get me started on the food!  Apples, pumpkins, caramel, molasses, and all things dark and sweet are at the forefront of the menu.  I made both pumpkin soup and pumpkin bread this week, and the candy corn is in the ceramic pumpkin, being snacked on as people pass by.  Soon I will make my gingerbread cookies with my maple leaf cookie cutters, and not too far after that, feast with my family on a giant bird that I, blissfully, did not cook.

Another leaf!

Fall brings me to a place of more spiritual awareness, probably because rain always makes me introspective.  I get out my journal and start jotting down ideas, first lines of poems, chapter titles for another unwritten masterpiece.  It's possible that if I lived in Oregon, I'd be a novelist by now.

Leaves!

But Maeve just likes the free confetti.
