My Bear

I was lucky enough to have one of the best friends a girl can have when I was growing up: Bear.  Bear was my companion and confidant for twenty years before my husband came into my life, and I couldn't have asked for better.  He was shy, quiet, and understanding, and a very good shape for cuddling.

Bear has had many adventures in his life, he is a well-traveled and well-read bear, as he always came with me and has a tendency to read over my shoulder.  He has been to England, Alaska, and to probably about 25 of these United States.

But now he has made friends with my daughter.  When we were packing one night, I got him down off the shelf and handed him to her, and told her he was Mommy's favorite bear.  She gave him a big hug and said "Snuggle" so I knew things were off to a great start.

Mostly she seems to want to use him as a pillow, but that's a fine job for a Bear-in-Retirement.  He is awfully snuggly, and good at being useful. I hope she will grow to love his quiet ways and companionship as much as I did.

He will put up with any ridiculous costume

  1. That is so sweet--every child needs a "Bear" (or a Snuggle) in their life! :D
