The Husband stayed home with me on Monday since he needed to finish getting better and I was just getting sick. Having an overlap day helped a lot, and to entertain the child, we took her to Target.
She had already picked out her outfit for the day, applied over the robot t-shirt and navy pants I had picked out. A fairy dress, a legwarmer on her arm, and sparkly shoes. And really, who's going to give us dirty looks for letting our kid dress all wild at Target? Answer: no one. Everyone thought she was adorable. And that made me feel good about letting her make her own choices like that. Because she is adorable in her dress up clothes, and when she threw a tantrum and had to be escorted from the store in disgrace by Daddy, she at least did it looking like a mismatched 1980's fairy princess.
So that's one parenting decision made.

I love that you let her pick her Target attire! Not only does it let her express herself, it also give her ownership and builds on decision-making skills. Our kids have worn very "interesting" outfits out at times and it really is kind of fun! :)
ReplyDeletesuper cute!
ReplyDeleteI can honestly say if I saw a kid out and about dressed like Maeve, I'd think to myself, "That kid is pretty awesome and I bet his/her parents are, too!"
