Bubble Obsession

“The world 's a bubble, and the life of man less than a span.” Francis Bacon, Sr.

The title says it all, really, my Maeve is obsessed with bubbles.  It's kind of an oddly ephemeral obsession, and it tends to last as long as a bubble does, though.  She thinks she really wants you to blow some bubbles, but by the time you put on shoes and socks and a coat/sunscreen, go outside, and sit down to blow some bubbles, she has lost interest after the first batch.

She often doesn't even notice I've blown any bubbles because they pop before she looks up from the ant she found on the sidewalk or stick or whatever, even though I sound like an idiot, going Maeve! Bubbles! Look! Bubbles! Just because it's annoying to go through all that trouble for her to ignore me when I'm doing what she was begging for three minutes ago.  Her attention span is actually more short-lived than a bubble.

This is why I love the Children's Museum of Denver.  They have a whole room devoted to bubbles, and several machines that will do all the work for me.  This is much better at holding Maeve's attention, possibly because the bubbles are either filled with dry ice or are larger than her whole body, which is way cooler than Mom and her Gazillions on the porch.  Either way, it works for me!  Maeve was on Cloud Nine yesterday with all the kids and the bubbles at the museum.

Popping dry-ice bubbles yesterday - sheer joy!
