It has become a lovely part of our evenings, after dinner on the patio, playing with Maeve. She gets both of our full attentions, and burns off some just-eaten calories by racing up and down the deck making speedy sounds.
These evenings have been so sweet, so peaceful, and the outdoor air is so calming after dinner. I love watching Maeve play with her Daddy, then run to me, then back to Daddy, with the freedom to keep picking one or the other. She "helped" Daddy fix the baby gate on the deck last night, by sitting in his lap while he put in some screws. But those Daddy-daughter moments just pierce my heart, because I remember how special I always felt when my dad paid attention to me, or included me in something.
Last night was particularly bittersweet because Maeve asked me to put her hair up, so she wore a ponytail (kind of to the side, it was a rush job) all evening long, and it made her look like such a big girl! So here are a few pictures to send you on towards your weekend:
