Yes, it's official, Maeve has heard Why Does the Sun Shine by They Might be Giants often enough that she has just about learned all the lyrics. We hear it on cd in the car, I sing it to her for a lullaby, it is, without a doubt, her favorite song. And I was spending all that time on the ABCs.
When I sing it to her for a lullaby, as I lay her down in her crib, I sing With a temperature of millions of smoochies! and she always corrects me: degwees. You can't get anything past this kid.
It was funny, Daddy and I watched a documentary about the sun, and about half the facts they spouted came directly from this song. He and I were so bored, we were like, tell us something we don't know! We already know a million Earths would fit inside the sun, that it's 93 million miles away, and that hydrogen is getting turned into helium by nuclear reactions. Duh!
I wish I had a video of her singing this song, I promise I will post one if I get lucky enough to catch it on camera. But if you ever want to make my daughter happy, play or sing her this song, and you won't be disappointed.
But instead of a video of her singing about the sun, I leave you with a video of her making fart noises on the ottoman. You're welcome.
