Burt Farlander: What's wrong with a stroller?
LN: I LOVE my babies. Why would I want to PUSH them away from me?- Away We Go
You moms of toddlers know what I'm talking about here. Yesterday we visited the Denver Zoo, which was totally marvelous. Except for this: walk or ride? Do I let the child walk, or try to keep her in the stroller? Let me also mention, there is an older boy who is walking, and 2 younger boys who are riding. Just take a guess how it went for me, oh mother who thought the stroller would be easier.
Up. Up. Up! Walkin'!
So we switched off- when she wanted a snack, I put her back in the stroller. When she wanted to see the animals, I let her out. Also, the angle from the stroller at our zoo tends to give the child and excellent view of bushes, so I had to let her out, otherwise she would never have seen anything.

It's just tricky, because the zoo is a big place, full of people her size, and carnivores. So I can't just let her run on ahead the way I would if we were a half-block from the playground. But she hates, despises, detests being cooped up in the stroller and constrained in her animal-viewing.
I think next time, I'll bring the Leash, and ignore the evil looks from other adults. It's probably the best solution, for now. She does well holding my hand at the Museum of Nature and Science, but the zoo is a different kettle of fish. Also, she thought the giraffes were dinosaurs - and who can blame her?
I often struggle with the same conundrum--fortunately Sammy doesn't mind the stroller, as long as it continues moving. Once it stops for more than a minute, though, all heck breaks loose!
