More Smile Pumpkins

"Each year, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is the most sincere. He's gotta pick this one. He's got to. I don't see how a pumpkin patch can be more sincere than this one. You can look around and there's not a sign of hypocrisy. Nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see." - Linus, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

Maeve may have been sad when we put away the wading pool, but I told her then that even though Summer was gone, she was going to love Fall, and I believe I can safely say I was right about that.  It turns out that pumpkins make Maeve happier than any other fruit, vegetable, or gourd in existence.

She especially loves the smile pumpkins, or jack o'lanterns that are everywhere this time of year.  I think I may have coined the term smile pumpkins because I wanted her to think of them as friendly, and it certainly seems to have worked.  We paid a whopping 60 cents for a trick-or-treat plastic pumpkin at the thrift store this weekend, and it has been like Eeyore's birthday present around here, with things going in and out of it.  She announced to me, Smile Pumpkin, where you going?  And then it took a little walk around the table, came back to where he started, and Maevie said Oh there you are!  So much to do!

Given the current estate of pumpkin love, I wanted to take her over to the Habitat for Humanity pumpkin patch that I thought was going on at the Arvada Center, but once we arrived, there were no pumpkins in sight, so we just hopped by a Sprouts grocery store on the way home and let Maeve pick out a few pumpkins there.  When Daddy came back after purchasing a few of the lovely orange fellows, he handed a small one to Maeve who immediately said Thank You! I love it! And that kind of thing makes it all worthwhile.

So Maeve and Daddy played with the pumpkin outside while I made dinner, and I will share some of the pictures they took with you.  Enjoy, and may the Great Pumpkin visit your house, too.
