Her favorite stuffed animals/toys to play with are all robots. C3PO, Wall-E, Eve, and Plex from Yo Gabba Gabba are the big faves right now. Mind you, she sleeps with her special blanket and a manatee, the robots are not bedtime pals, but I do wonder why the robots feature so strongly in her imaginary play.
The robots are the ones who have to get shots at the doctor, who are afraid of shadows, who play hide and seek. The thing is, I'm not sure she's even noticed that they're all robots. And I have a dickens of a time trying to do C3PO's voice, it just comes out regular British, not very much Anthony Daniels. And Wall-E and Eve just talk in robot monotone, you know, since they both basically have a 5 word vocabulary in the movie and you can only live off Whoa, Plant!, and Directive? in a conversation for so long.
Maybe robots, like her, are busy trying to make sense of the human world, and she relates to that. Maybe I should get her a Data from Star Trek Next Gen. But whatever the reason, and I think possibly unconsciously, we are in robot mode over here. Have a good weekend, friends, and enjoy your kiddos!
