Maeve and Grandpa D

"You have to do your own growing no matter how tall your grandfather was." -Abraham Lincoln

It took Maeve awhile to really warm up to Grandpa D.  He's a big guy, and I mean big, at 6'7", and his noise level is generally higher than she really liked.  She has always been intrigued by him, and thought he was very silly, but she wasn't always so sure about him.  Things started out like this:

See that look?  She's like, what is on this guy's arm?  Where are my parents?

Maeve had to get accustomed to Grandpa D's high-decibel sneezes, his big laugh, and how he likes to tease and be silly. When she was little, she'd cry every time he sneezed, even if the poor guy tried to stifle it.

But as he noted this past weekend, these days when Grandpa D sneezes, Maeve just turns around and says Bless you.  And it's much more than that, she adores him with a great passion.  She is always trying to get his attention, always bossing him around, and just generally wants to play with him every chance she gets.  She also considers him to be her own personal jungle gym:

I think they've kind of grown into each other.  And I love that she has someone in her life who plainly adores her as much as Grandpa D clearly does.
