Yesterday we scored about fifteen books for about $13 total, because we are that awesome. Most of them were from our carefully compiled wish list, but a few were impulse purchases we couldn't pass up. I found a Star Trek book unlike anything I've ever seen, an almost comic book style, shot by shot version of "The Trouble with Tribbles" which is now going to be my new plaything for social media. We found Maeve a Hanukkah book because it's like her second favorite holiday, coming in just after Christmas. And The Husband scored a book of haiku that's in Japanese, but is translated into English, which is perfect since one of his pet projects is learning Japanese.
One of my very special finds is an undated (but old, looks late-1920s) Pickwick Papers by Dickens. Scored for a dollar, I have seen it on sale online for up to $25:
So beautiful! It's going straight onto my antique books shelf. |
It technically does not have hearts on the cover, I added those. |
I see the hearts! :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good day. I've always liked your commitment to books. I still remember peeking into your room and wondering what wondrous person owned so many books that I wanted to read.
Marissa- and I still remember you saying that and me thinking, oh, I will most definitely be friends with this girl!!
