Room

"A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction. " -Virginia Woolf

Well Maeve is halfway there, she now has a room of her own... now I just have to teach her to write, and get her some money!

Yesterday my husband and I got Maeve's crib moved into her room.  I decided her nine-month birthday was a great day to make the transition, and it seems I was right.  She took her afternoon nap there without incident (unless you count half an hour of crying), and slept there last night.

Instead of her usual 6-7 wakes, she had 4 last night, which I consider a huge improvement.  Best of all, she didn't seem scared or upset that she wasn't in the room with us, it was the same cry she makes every time she wakes at night, and that alleviated the worries I had.  And I got two glorious three-hour stretches of sleep, which to you non-parents sounds like a joke, but you mommies know what I'm talking about.

She also managed to cut one of her front teeth, and the other one is close behind, so I'm looking forward to even better sleep as the week progresses.  And I'm glad she's in her own room; as her first birthday approaches, I'm trying to keep up with her growing, learning, and getting bigger and smarter all the time.  Putting her there is just another sign of the times.

You can just see that flash of white on top - the newest addition to the family of Maeve teeth!

  1. Congrats on the move! It took me awhile to get used to Sammy not being in the same room with me but boy, did we both sleep better at night. Enjoy those extra hours!
