Swing

“The world is a playground, and life is pushing my swing.”  -Natalie Kocsis

Maeve's new game is a little hard on my back.
She wanders down our hallway, as if she has pressing business at the other end of it.  Then she turns around, grinning at me, and comes running back toward me at full tilt, arms in the air.  My job is to pick her up off the ground and swing her up into my arms, which is cause for big smiles and giggles.

If this game weren't so darned fun, I'd give it up right now.  My lower back has enough problems without me picking up Maeve at top speeds for fun.  But her grins and giggles are infectious, so I go along with it.  Also, it's giving me the opportunity to learn some great lower back stretches for when she's napping, and I'm getting my money's worth out of my heating pad.

After some goofy playtime, Mom still has the giggles.

  1. I'm afraid you're going to have to share those lower back stretches with me! I've started wearing Sammy on my back, and boy, is that kid heavy after a little bit!

  2. This is so funny. I used to say that the only reason I stayed in any kind of shape with the kids was because of "Baby Plyometrics." Pick them up, put them down, stick them in the car, carry them up the stairs, swing them around. I swear, I lost half my muscle mass when the kids started moving around on their own.
