Camping in Four Days!

"Camping is nature's way of promoting the motel business." -Dave Barry

That's right, in just four days, our family, along with some good friends who have a kiddo near Maeve's age, is going camping!  This is a big first for us, as Daddy and I have not camped alone together, let alone with a small person, so we have high hopes that it will be fun and enjoyable, and that there will be sleep involved.

We bought a tent, in hindsight, perhaps a bigger tent than was strictly necessary, but a very good tent.  Daddy set it up this weekend for a test run and it isn't too hard to set up, since he managed while Maeve kept both volunteering to 'help' and performing wild jigs of happiness.  We bought a queen airbed which we haven't tried out, but will hopefully be reasonably comfortable and not appear to the child as a trampoline.

There will almost certainly be a weenie roast, s'mores, hiking, lots of little leaves and sticks and rocks brought to me for inspection or as gifts, lots of coffee, and hopefully, sleep.  I mean, we'll be wearing the kids out, right?  They have to sleep?

Anyway, we're all very excited and you're sure to get some fun photos this time next week.  So, any tips on camping with preschoolers?

Tents are a great place to crash out and read :)
