Is This the RealLife?

After a hellishly long morning yesterday, I heard from the Husband's surgeon that his surgery went perfectly, and that he was stable and in good neurological shape.  Having visited him in the ICU, I can tell you it's true, he was alert and functioning pretty darned well when I saw him.  He was very muzzy from the meds, but in otherwise pretty good shape.  Thanks, all, for thinking of us.  Maeve is doing fine, she's used to Daddy being gone on trips and this doesn't seem any different to her.  Once he gets home it'll be another kettle of fish, but as my old boss used to say, we'll burn those bridges when we get to them.

Now I am in the middle of trying to make our days as normal as possible, while arranging sitters so I can visit the Husband, and graciously accepting dinners from our friends.  It is so wonderful not to have to cook, I think I would have expired if I'd tried to make dinner last night.  Anyway, we're all muddling through and I'll write you a more reflective blog post in the near future.  Maeve and I dressed up as "pretty princesses" last night, which was good medicine for all of us.

  1. I'm glad to hear that Maeve is thus far not stressed out by this, allowing you to take care of yourself for a few days in the immediate aftermath without having to worry about her, too. Hugs to you all.
