Visiting Dad at Work

"Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning." -Gloria Steinem

When I asked Maeve what she was most excited to see at Daddy's office yesterday morning, she gleefully blurted out, "The computers!!!" Possibly because that's basically all she knows about Daddy's work, is that he works with computers. But also possibly because she's a chip off the old block.

She was positively bouncing by the time we got downtown, even though it took me almost 20 minutes to find a meter. It's hard to answer twenty questions, drive on one-way streets, and scout for parking places at the same time. But we found a spot and walked to Dad's building to meet him in the lobby.

She was suitably impressed with the view from the 27th floor; as she pointed out, she could see cars from up there! And rooftop parking lots! Meanwhile Daddy and I were trying to show her the state capitol, whose gleaming golden dome didn't impress her, especially when we tried to explain what they do there. (They... make all the rules for our state?)

Several of Daddy's co-workers offered the child candy, so she really likes it there, now. Eating a blue Peep was a definite highlight of the trip for her. After the tour, we all went and got pizza, which was also Maeve's favorite part. I love how much she loves seeing where Daddy works, I know it helps remove a little of the mystery about it for her, but also really piques her curiosity.

Great view of Denver

Pizza time!
