Little Engineer

"The walls between art and engineering exist only in our minds." -Theo Jansen

My Maeve is endlessly impressive to me. Well, as her mother, that's kind of my job. But you may be impressed, too, after you read this. She is really thinking like an engineer these days.

When we went to A&W this week, Maeve noticed a fly buzzing around the store. She observed it awhile, and wondered how it had gotten into the store. Daddy and I said it was probably through an open door or window, and Maeve looked around at the ceiling thoughtfully. It could have gotten in through one of those fans, if they have a vent to the outside, she said.

I mean really, how many almost-five-year-olds know that fans have an outdoor exhaust? She is really paying attention, this one.
